 The Department of Geography at Kumaun University, SSJ Campus Almora, has been at the forefront of developing Geographic Information System ( GIS ) infrastructure for governance, education, and research in Uttarakhand since 2002. This effort began with the establishment of the Natural Resources Data Management System (NRDMS) Centre , which created digital data for the Almora district with support from the NRDMS Division of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in New Delhi.
